Historic Markers

There are many places and buildings in the Muskingum/Coshocton county area which are of great historic significance that are not marked in any way.  Help us in erecting historic markers at these locations so the past is not forgotten.  As funds become available the G. W. Adams Educational Center will have markers made and placed at historic sites around the two county area.  We will work with property owners, local and state governments to get these markers erected.

You can help in two ways:

1. If you know of a historic site that needs a marker please contact us so we may add it to the list.

2. Donate: Funds for markers will come from various sources but your help would be instrumental.  You may donate money for this project by calling 740 -754-1054.  All donation are TAX DEDUCTIBLE under section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Thank you.

Some places currently being considered for markers include:

The Trinway Methodist Church

The Union School, Dresden

The Triple Locks at Dresden

The side cut basin and aqueduct embankments at Dresden

The side cut canal at Websport (intersection of Raiders Road and Bottom Road)

The Trinway School (Currently Schneider's Garage).

The former location of the Adams Brothers Mill at Adams Mills

The Edward Adams House, Adams Mills

The Township Hall, Muskingum Township

The home currently owned by Charles Downer, Newcomerstown

The former site of the Trinway railway station

Both former railway stations at Dresden

The Adams Center will also work to have historic sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, maintained by the National Park Service, if those places are not already on the register.
